My chronic seasonal allergies are much less.
These are just some of the comments I have taken note of over the past 17 years.
Concussions are more in the news lately than any other time, that I can remember. In taking an unofficial survey, most people I talk to remember some kind of fall or head injury, perhaps they saw stars, perhaps not. I grew up in a rough and tumble, play outside till dark environment, without helmets. I'm sure many of you can relate. But when a traumatic brain injury gets in the way optimal health, what can be done? In my extensive experience I have worked with many people with post concussion issues. I am simply amazed at some of the stories of "crashes" and what people have dealt with for years. I use cranial sacral therapy techniques when working with post concussion issues.
What is a Naturopath?
Naturopathy was founded with the philosophy that we have the healing power of nature inside of us. The body has an innate ability to heal itself. Naturopaths look to find the cause, treat the whole person, and teach people how to take care of this amazing body they were given with the tools of lifestyle, diet, nutrients, movement, etc. to achieve the healthiest version of themselves.
What is Neuromusculoskeletal Techniques?
I use an evaluation of the posture, and often an evaluation of the gait to help me determine what is pulling, what is tight, what might be weak. Sometimes where it hurts isn't where the actual issue is, or the only issue. I use this information to create a logical therapeutic targeted massage therapy session, and one that we can thereby measure changes.
What is Cranial Sacral therapy?
Gentle movement of the bones and structures of the head and sacrum are employed to attempt to restore balance. "The aim of cranial treatment are to normalize nerve function, counteract stress-producing factors by - (relaxes the tense individual, calm emotional storms, normalizes pituitary secretion for improved endocrine function everywhere, enhances homeostasis in a very fundamental fashion. Structure governs function.), Eliminate circulatory stasis, normalize cerebrospinal fluid fluctuation, release membranous tension, correct cranial articular lesions, and modify gross structural patterns." ( information taken from print, by Harold Ives Magoun, D.O.)
Why discuss lifestyle modifications?
Have you ever thought, I know I need to do something different, this just isn't working, but I don't know where to start? Or perhaps you have wondered what all these terms are that people are doing like, Keto, Ketogenic, Keto friendly, Paleo, Gluten free, Grain free, sugar free? Perhaps you have thought to yourself, will one of those ways of eating be helpful? Perhaps you would like information on testing that can help identify a trend to an unhealthy state. I gather information about each client, we brainstorm together, and ultimately the client is empowered to create the changes they have as their goal.
